In the early to mid 2000s, before grime became a household name, before number 1 singlesand international shows, a group of teenage producers, MCs and DJs from Bow – mostlyschool friends – created a sound and a name for themselves that will stand the test of time.Whittled down from over 50 legendary instrumentals to 22, as Rapid put it, "these are theanthems, the tunes people remember us by. The ones people have been asking for eversince."

Since their inception back in 2001, RuffSqwad's music has been supported by the likes of Jamie XX, Oneman, Jackmaster, MaryAnne Hobbs, Mistajam, Logan Sama, Bok Bok, TimWestwood, PlasticianandBlackdown.Across their mixtapes and countless vinyl releases, the collective built an immaculateunderground reputation in the formative years of the grime scene for their uniqueproduction sound that transcended the genre and influenced the sounds that followed.Up until now, these productions have either been unreleased or only available to those whowere lucky enough to pick up a limited white label pressing from an independent store atthe time - hence the name White Label Classics. At their peak, Ruff Sqwad's weekly radio show on Rinse FM was premiering and pioneeringtheir constant stream of new productions with releases so prolific Tinchy Strydercommented on one of their singles "We got so many beats on a real we own our own rack inRhythm" (Rhythm Division, the go to record shop for grime). The CD features a 16 page booklet with classic photos and an interview with main producersDirty DangerandRapid.
